How to Print Lined Notebook Paper at Home (Actual Size)

By Hassaan Riaz (Chief Educational Resource Designer) · 1 min read · Updated 2026-06-26

Avoid Common Scaling Pitfalls

When downloading printable PDFs, printers default to 'Scale to fit printable area'. This shrinks the grid lines, modifying the line spacing.

1. Download PDF: Get the letter or A4 template from our Notebook Paper Generator. 2. Open Dialog: Click print or open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat reader. 3. Configure Settings: Look under 'Page Sizing & Handling'. Select 'Actual Size' or set scale to '100%'. 4. Select Paper Tray: Match your format (A4 or Letter) to your printer's physical paper size. 5. Print: Hit print. Your ruled line gaps will print exactly to specifications.
